China 6 Standard & Smoke Leak Detector Introduction

2020-09-18

1. China 6 Emission Standard

(1) Implemented nationwide from July 1, 2020 based on California environmental regulations with enhanced EVAP systems.

(2) Some provinces adopted it early starting January 1, 2019.

2. EVAP System

Enhanced EVAP is monitored by ECU while driving. Leaks trigger fault codes and illuminate engine warning lights.

3. Smoke Leak Detector

(1) Smoke testing is globally recognized as the most effective EVAP leak detection method, mandated by major US OEMs.

(2) Also applicable for intake, exhaust, door/window sealing and vacuum leak inspection.

4. China 6 Evaporative Emission Limits

(1) The standard requires OBD alerts for leaks equivalent to ≥1mm holes; manufacturers may tighten to 0.5mm.

(2) New EVAP adds fuel tank pressure sensors and purge valves; lights activate above 1mm leakage.

(3) Specific EVAP fault codes require smoke testing to locate leakage.

5. We provide extensive OEM smoke detector cases covering all vehicle brands.
